  • Selected as lead organization for the EU–Eureka joint R&D programme, demonstrating global technological competitiveness
  • Forms a consortium with Swedish water treatment specialist DABCE, with R&D funding confirmed from the relevant agencies in both countries
  • Accelerates development of a mobile wastewater destruction module for on-site deployment in response to PFAS discharge regulations across Europe

FUST Lab, an ultrasound-based deep-tech company led by CEO Minseong Hwangbo, announced that it has been selected as the lead organization for Eurostars-3, an international collaborative research and development programme supported by the European Union (EU) and the Eureka Secretariat.

FUST Lab has formed a consortium with DABCE, a Swedish company specializing in water treatment modules, to conduct joint research over the next three years. As the lead organization and local partner, respectively, FUST Lab and DABCE will carry out the project with substantial R&D funding support from their respective governments and designated agencies.

Eurostars-3 is one of Europe’s leading international collaborative R&D funding programmes dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises, jointly operated by the EU’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme and Eureka. It rigorously selects projects involving globally competitive technologies with commercial potential, evaluating technological merit, market potential, and partnership capabilities.

Through its selection as the project’s lead organization, FUST Lab has gained formal recognition in the European market for the strengths of its proprietary advanced ultrasonic technology, CAVITOX, and its potential for international commercialization.

The project aims to develop a mobile PFAS wastewater treatment system and commercialize it in Europe. As European countries, including France, introduce PFAS discharge levies and tighten discharge standards, demand is rapidly growing for solutions that directly destroy and treat PFAS at contamination sites without generating secondary waste.

FUST Lab plans to combine its CAVITOX ultrasonic destruction technology with DABCE’s modular water treatment engineering expertise to develop a containerized module for on-site deployment. The company aims to enable rapid PFAS destruction at the source of contamination without requiring separate wastewater transport or high-temperature incineration, while accelerating market entry through proof-of-concept (PoC) demonstrations in Europe.

“Being selected as the lead organization for Eurostars-3, one of Europe’s leading collaborative R&D programmes, represents recognition of CAVITOX’s technological competitiveness in the European market,” said Minseong Hwangbo, CEO of FUST Lab. “Through our partnership with Sweden’s DABCE, we will develop a reliable mobile system designed for effective on-site application and proactively pursue opportunities in the European water treatment market as regulatory requirements become more stringent.”
